Quilt Preparation

We know that you have already spent much thought and many hours creating your quilt top. These are the steps that you must follow for us to be able to do the premium quilting we want to do for you.

Quilt top

  • Make sure all seams are well pressed. Caution: if a darker fabric is pressed towards a lighter colored fabric, the dark may show through the lighter fabric.
  • Clips all threads especially dark ones that could show through lighter fabric.
  • Embellishments such as buttons must be added after quilting.
  • Clearly mark which is the head (or top).
  • If any seams are open or undone, an extra fee will be charged.

Batting

  • The batting should be 4 inches bigger on all side than the quilt top.
  • Square up the batting.
  • If you are not sure of what type of batting to use, a common choice is an 80/20 blend. Call us if you have questions.

Backing

  • The backing should be 4 inches bigger on all side than the quilt top.
  • Square up the backing.
